KRNV: Historic Bowers Mansion opens season with Civil War reenactment

RENO, Nev. (News 4 & Fox 11) — Washoe County’s historic Bowers Mansion will begin its 2019 tour season with a live Civil War Reenactment Saturday, May 18.
Visitors will be transported to the days of Nevada’s statehood, enjoy the exhibits, grounds, and tours of the mansion from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
The ongoing Civil War exhibits and demonstrations are free. Self-guided tours of the historic Bowers Mansion will be available for $7 Adults, $5 Children, and Seniors.
“The Nevada Civil War Volunteers is a group of historical reenactors dedicated to preserving and sharing American history. We will escort you back in time to get a glimpse of life during the Civil War,” said Rebecca Van Sickle, NCWV Civilian Chief of Staff.
Bowers Mansion in Washoe Valley is open for tours on weekends during the summer.
